Olympic Studios Reincarnated

Jimmy Page by Ed Perlstein/ The Hellgate-one of the many artists to have recorded at the legendary Olympic Studios

Jimmy Page by Ed Perlstein/ The Hell Gate- one of the many artists to have recorded at the legendary Olympic Studios

Besides an excuse to post a photo of Jimmy Page, a recent article in the BBC travel section highlights that you don’t have to completely cling to history or erase it. The Olympic Studios is being turned into a cinema house and it’s not a bad thing. Instead of completely extinguishing the essence of the studios, the cinema house is paying homage to the building’s music roots. There will be posters of legends that have recorded there- Hendrix, Led Zep, just to name a view and it will be equipped with a state of the art sound system. Ron Wood has donated one of his original painting already. We’d gladly take this any day over going to a multiplex. Read the article here. Now if only New York real estate developers thought like this, sigh.

Jonas Bang has translated his black & white photography seamlessly for the official video “So Cold” by Thee Attacks

and in a different direction… Ponte 25 Live Session by Kiss Kiss Kiss.

Jack White Video by AG Rojas

Jack White by Jamie Beeden/ The Hell Gate- image is copyrighted, not for use without permission

AG Rojas has done it again- another excellent video, “Sixteen Salteens” from Jack White’s solo album Blunderbuss. The video is wonderfully disturbing without being over the top and features children, again. As far as we are concerned AG is at the top of his game and we can’t wait to see more videos from him.

Hey, Jane

Epic new video from Spiritualized, “Hey Jane”, directed by AJ. Rojas. Easily one of the best videos we’ve seen in years.

Love that the first “single” clocks in at over 8 minutes- very Spritualized indeed. New album “Sweet Heart Sweet Light” is out April 16th on Fat Possum.

Steve Gullick, in our humble opinion photographed one of the greatest J Spaceman photos ever- Mt. Etna 2001

The video is co-directed by bassist Nicholas Harmer and shows Fairey doing some art in his studio to illustrate the lyrics of “Home is a Fire” and explore the home as a haven or a place to burn down and reconstruct. Interview With Danny Clinch in Fault Magazine

One of our favorite music photographers is Danny Clinch. His photos are so natural and candid, as well as being beautifully composed. He shots with film (bless) and a Leica. He also plays a mean harmonica. Fault magazine has a brand new interview with him here. Danny’s also branched out successfully over the past couple of years with film, documenting Ben Harper and doing the DVD for Pearl Jam’s live show in Italy, which is excellent. One of our favorite videos he’s directed is “Lie to Me” for Tom Waits. Tom Waits + Danny Clinch = pure bliss.

After years of speculation, looks like the green light has been given for a Jeff Buckley biopic. No one has been cast as Buckley as of yet, but it’s been confirmed that Jake Scott of Welcome to the Rileys fame is set to direct. For more details check out the article on deadline.com
