James Murphy- Renaissance Man

James Murphy is a restauranteur- in Williamsburg, BK, no less. Very easy to sneer at this one folks, for God’s sake, Williamsburg! And it’s a wine bar serving lardo. It’s called The Four Horsemen and you can read more about it at Gothamist. Now that you’ve thoroughly mulled over the irony and replay “Losing My Edge” in your head we can turn our attention to his second venture- this one more in line with Murphy and in theory could be kind of cool- He’s petitioning to replace all the beeps while going through the NYC subway system with musical notes.

Read more about his quest to turn rush our into a giant symphony here.

Been meaning to give Lykke Li’s third album I Never Learn¬†an earnest listen. From what we’ve gleamed it’s a break up album, which tend to be great and this really fun/ insightful review on Grantland has sealed the deal for us. Any one that that fully embraces the power ballad is aces in our book. Now it’s time for some Foreigner.

King Khan and the Shrines by Nicole Fara Silver

King Khan and the Shrines by Nicole Fara Silver/ The Hell Gate

King Khan and all of the Shrines were gracious enough to let us photograph them before they played a blistering set at Webster Hall NYC the night before Halloween. Gallery viewable here. We are digging how each photo is pretty spot on with the band members’ personalities. This may be the first time The Shrines have all been photographed together. Special thanks to Simon Wojan for being on top of everything and generally awesome.
